Phil Czerwinski is the Director, anthropologist and principal archaeologist of Heritage WA Pty Ltd, a Perth-based Aboriginal cultural heritage firm with capacity in anthropology, archaeology and GIS services. He is also employed as the lead archaeologist for Citic Pacific Mining, where his duties include the recording, assessment and management of archaeological sites. He is the Chairperson of the WA Branch of the Association of Consulting Archaeologists Inc. (AACAI), the peek body for consultant archaeologists in Australia.
Phil has been involved in managing Indigenous heritage issues and undertaking research for over 12 years since completing his BA (Hons) in Indigenous archaeology in 1997. He has also completed a Graduate Certificate in Applied Anthropology to the University of Western Australia. Beyond his current duties, Phil has worked as a Regional Archaeologist for the South Australian Department for Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation (DAARE) in Port Augusta, SA, as a consultant archaeologist for Australian Cultural Heritage Management (ACHM), and as a Senior Advisor in the Aboriginal Relations Branch of the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (MEMPR) in British Columbia, Canada.
