SUMMARY:AACAI WA Lithics Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The WA Chapter of the Australian Association of Consulting Archaeologists Inc. (AACAI WA) are delighted to present a two-day workshop on lithics by renowned Australian archaeologist Peter Hiscock\, an Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland\, and Adjunct Research Fellow at Griffith University. \nOver the course of two days\, Peter will provide lithics training to participants. He will discuss how lithic technology in the past might have worked and how you can describe the objects you find in ways that help you understand past human decisions and problem solving. He will also address what kinds of analyses are practical and cost-effective for the skill level and resources of each analyst\, and what information can and cannot be reliably inferred from lithics. \nThe workshop will be held at the University of Western Australia (UWA) Crawley campus on Friday 24th April and Saturday 25th April 2026\, starting at 9am sharp and concluding at 4pm each day. \nVenue details will be shared with participants before the workshop. \nPrices are as follows (excludes Humantix fees): \n\nAACAI Member $300\nStudent $300\nFirst Nations $300\nNon-Member $400\n\nSpaces are limited due to venue size and ticket sales will close by COB Wednesday 15th April for catering purposes. \nCatering will be provided throughout each day (inclusive of price) – please let us know if you have any dietary requirements on your booking. \nPlease share through your booking any questions about lithics that you may have and would like Peter to answer at the workshop. \nAACAI WA is grateful to the Desert People Project at UWA for supporting this workshop. \nhttps://events.humanitix.com/aacai-wa-lithics-workshop

DESCRIPTION:Australia ICOMOS @50 – looking back\, looking forward May 1-3\, 2026\, with an optional program of field trips on May 4th. \nRegistrations close 15 April \nProgram here \nWe look forward to gathering in Burra\, South Australia for a long weekend of celebration\, reflection\, site visits and field trips as we come together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Australia ICOMOS. \nOur formal program will commence with buses from Adelaide timed to land in time for a reception in Burra the Friday evening\, a full day symposium and celebratory dinner on the Saturday\, Burra site visits the Sunday\, and an optional program of field trips to Moonta or the Barossa on the Monday. \nBuses will be available to take you back to Adelaide on the Sunday evening\, but there will also be an optional program that will return you to Adelaide on the Monday night.
