Michael has worked in Heritage consulting since 2011, prior to which he had a long career in Business and management.
This has given Michael a solid background in understanding client and stakeholder management and the requirement for heritage to be managed in a manner that maintains engagement of all parties. While working in Victoria, Michael fostered close relationships with Registered Aboriginal Parties in researching and carrying out Cultural Heritage Management Plans, and often very large precinct-wide evaluations. Michael also specialises in Historical archaeology - particularly artefact identification, handling and analysis and has managed a number of large historical excavations assemblages (>30,000) from Melbourne CBD. In Victoria Michael developed a specialisation in the initial and rapid appraisal of project- based heritage and stakeholder requirements.
In addition to the many professional reports he has produced, Michael has maintained a steady output of publications in academic journals. These can be accessed at : https:aiarch.academia.edu/MichaelLever
