Consulting Experience
Andrea Murphy is a senior indigenous and non-indigenous archaeologist, Project Manager and Director of Tardis Enterprises Pty Ltd (Trading as Tardis Archaeology).
Andrea Murphy is one of the founding consultants in Victoria, establishing Tardis in 1988. During this time Andrea has authored more than 600 cultural heritage management projects. Tardis specialises in all facets of heritage management, from initial client assistance relating to statutory requirements, to completion of large scale multi-disciplinary heritage projects. The majority of projects have required the identification, assessment and management of prehistoric indigenous, contact indigenous and or non-Aboriginal historic values. Throughout this period keeping abreast of statutory requirements on a state and local government has been imperative to offer accurate and up to date advice. Projects include heritage managers for Eynesbury Estate, which will be a 15 year commitment on completion. Other recent large scale projects include management of numerous precinct structure plans, infrastructure corridors. Small but significant site excavation has been undertaken at Pakenham (revealing an early Holocene site) plus historic excavation at Victoria's first settlement site. With so many years of experience a full summary of the types of sites, their location and nature of investigation can be provided on request.
Andrea has developed high level of consultation experience, ensuring the best outcome for clients and heritage is achieved. Problem solving and the best outcomes both in a fiscal and heritage management sense are only achieved by ensuring all stakeholders have high quality advice on a regular basis.
Andrea (& Tardis staff) have a strong commitment to professional development by regular involvement in national and international workshops/conferences and is active within all relevant professional associations. With Andrea’s considerable experience this has enabled her to form a team of the most qualified and committed people in the industry. All senior archaeologists have a minimum of 5 years industry experience and have qualifications required to be registered as Cultural Heritage Advisor under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and Full Member of AACAI. No junior or inexperienced archaeologists are Project Managers at Tardis.
INTERESTS
Andrea regularly provides assistance to numerous volunteer organisations (e.g. Beaconsfield Nature Conservation Reserve, Bayles Conservations Reserve, Berwick - Pakenham Historical Society).
Andrea's outside interest is Equestrian Dressage. Andrea has qualified for State representation on a number of occasions and is a well recognised trainer and instructor.
