Consulting Experience
Neville Baker has over 30 years experience as an archaeologist and 28 years experience as a heritage consultant predominantly in archaeological heritage. Neville has worked in private practice, as a government archaeologist and has previously developed successful archaeology consulting practices within Australian Museum Business Services (1995 - 2002), ERM (2002 - 2007), AECOM (2007 -2010) and EMM (2010 - 2013). Neville formed his own consulting company in 2013 and in 2013-2014 worked with Hunter Water Corporation as in-house heritage consultant providing strategic advice and assessment services.
While experienced in directing multi-disciplinary heritage project teams, Neville�s core expertise is as an archaeologist of Aboriginal heritage. Key specialties are in Aboriginal community consultation, strategic heritage management, Aboriginal stone artefact technology and the archaeological excavation of �open campsites� commonly encountered in green field developments.
Over the past 21 years Neville has worked as a consultant on major mining, infrastructure, Defence and land development projects mainly in south eastern Australia. He has presented expert evidence in the NSW Land & Environment Court on archaeological assessment issues on three occasions
