Consulting Experience
Dr Jodie Benton the founder, director and principal consulting archaeologist of OzArk Environmental & Heritage Management. She has nearly 30 years experience, having spent many years managing archaeological projects abroad and in Australia, as well as lecturing at the University of Sydney.
Jodie's most recent work has been primarily development driven environmental impact assessment across NSW and southern Queensland, particularly for road and power infrastructure as well as for the mining industry. Through this Jodie has developed a broad network of Aboriginal community contacts; a thorough understanding of heritage protection legislation and has refined appropriate methodologies for Aboriginal and Historic heritage assessments and community consultation. Jodie has undertaken many long and linear projects associated with transport corridors, transmission lines and supply of IT services. She is also accredited by the Heritage Branch (NSW) for Section 60 permit supervision over historic bridges and has undertaken many heritage assessments of bridges across western NSW.
Recently Jodie has also been working as a trench supervisor at Boncuklu Hyk, a Neolithic site in Turkey, excavating and training students from around the world.
