Consulting Experience
I have undertaken more than 490 professional cultural heritage consultancies, including archaeological and anthropological studies, over a period of more than 16 years in South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Between the years 1990 to 1992 I was regional manager/archaeologist with National Heritage Studies, Adelaide, a broad-based consulting company. From 1992 onwards I have worked as a private consultant on projects ranging from small-scale developments to large regional studies dealing with cultural heritage assessment, research and management planning. Studies undertaken have included predictive/feasibility desktop studies, field surveys, site recording and excavation of both pre-contact and post-contact Indigenous and non-Indigenous heritage sites, oral history recordings, archival research, Native Title enquiries and work area clearances, analyses of shell midden and faunal materials, lithic analysis, as well as documentation, cultural heritage management plans and recommendations and reporting. Consultation with a wide range of groups, including members of government and private agencies, local interest groups and Aboriginal communities has been an integral part of all studies undertaken.
